Electric energy production at the level increased by 9.5% at the end of February, after a drop of 4.2% a year earlier, according to the Department of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF).

This performance is due to the positive evolution of private production (+9.8%) and that of renewable energies relating to law 13-09 (+61.3%), indicates the DEPF in its recent economic note .

As for the production of the National Office of Water and Electricity (ONEE), it continues to decline (-4.5% at the end of February 2024 after -7% at the end of February 2023), specifies the DEPF .

Regarding trade in the electrical energy sector with the outside world, the imported volume fell by 36.2% at the end of the first two months of 2024, after an increase of 183% a year earlier, adds the same Source.

As for the volume exported, it increased by 146.7% (after -67.2%), in a context of an increase in the volume of net energy called by 5.5% (after +2%). ).

Concerning the consumption of electrical energy, it increased by 1.1% at the end of February 2024, after an increase of 4.7% last year.

This increase is due to the strengthening of energy sales addressed to distributors by 4.3% and those of low voltage by 3.5%, despite the 4.9% decline in energy sales of ” very high, high and medium voltage, excluding distributors.
