Is turquoise more green or blue? This is a question that many people can’t agree on. This viral testwhich has caught the attention of over 1.5 million people, could help you determine which team you’re on.
The idea came from a small argument over the colour of a blanket, explained D.r Patrick Mineault, designer of this online test.
“I am a visual neuroscientist and my wife, Dr.D Marissé Masis-Solano, is an ophthalmologist. We have this argument about a blanket in our house. I think it’s unambiguously green and she thinks it’s unambiguously blue,” he said in an interview with “The Guardian.”
Working on new AI-assisted coding tools, he came up with the idea of designing a simple test to determine whether people perceive turquoise as more green or blue. So, when you access the site, you see a series of different shades of turquoise and you have to choose whether you see them more blue or green.
“I added this feature, which shows you the distribution, and it really clicked with people. ‘Do we see the same colors?’ is a question that philosophers and scientists — everyone really — have been asking for thousands of years. People’s perceptions are indescribable, and it’s interesting to think that we have different points of view,” Dr.r Mineault.
The website created by the neuroscientist quickly attracted a large number of people, so much so that it has had more than 1.5 million visits since August.
“I’m not really surprised that it struck a chord because people want to understand how other people see the world,” added the man who earned his doctorate from McGill University.
