The mining company Kibali Gold Mine, which exploits gold in Haut Uélé, is proud to have made millionaires of the companies that worked with it and its six thousand employees are part of the Congolese middle class. The CEO of Barrick Gold, parent company of Kibali Gold Mine said this during the company’s 52nd conference in Durba on Wednesday, March 20.

“Most of those who have had deals with us have entered the millionaire category. But what matters most to us are the company’s 6,000 workers who are now part of the Congolese middle class, the basis of a wealthy economy,” underlined Mark Bristow, CEO of Barrick Gold.

Also present at this press conference, Christophe Nangaa, Governor of Haut-Uele, congratulated the multinational for its achievements in the province. However, the provincial authority wants the Kibali Mine and the gold produced to be managed from Isiro, the provincial capital. “If the gold exported by Kibali passes through Isiro, this will allow the capital of Haut-Uele to also see its development. »
