When revenge mixes with love at first sight and all that in a censored world, the story can only promise to be exciting.

The thrillers, the romantic fantasy as well as novels young adult are genres that are currently all the rage in bookstores, particularly driven by the #BookTok community on TikTok. New stories and new authors are revealed regularly. But in this flow of trendy novelties, there are well-established authors from more classic fiction which remain our cute peach trees. Writing bestseller after bestseller, Marc Levy is one of them. Almost a year later The Symphony of Monstersthe author revealed son 26^e roman on November 19, 2024. Its title? The library of banned Bookspublished by Robert Laffont. As he knows how to do so well, the writer combines a police investigation and a love story against the backdrop of a censored world.

What is this new novel by Marc Levy?

The 63-year-old author transports us into an imaginary world where certain books have no no longer the right to be sold and therefore read. Mitch, a passionate bookseller, intends to continue making all literature accessible. In the basement of his shop, he organizes hidden sales. Unfortunately, he has arrested for serious crime and must spend five in prison. Upon his release, Mitch can't wait to find his bookstore, his books and his freedom. Obviously, fate decides otherwise. That same day, our hero comes across the prosecutor who convicted him against whom he wishes to take revenge. And his wife, Anna. A chef with a strong character who could to be the woman of his life. It is then that his desire for revenge mixes with his desire to love… Two contrary feelings which will animate the protagonist during 352 pages.

A story about revenge, love but above all censorship

For this 26^e novel, Marc Levy simply drew inspiration from current events. Unfortunately, censorship still exists in some countries, even the most developed ones. At the end of the book, he recalls, in fact, thatin Florida the governor voted a law allowing all state residents to apply withdrawal of a work school programs, school and public libraries (accessible to minors). Since its passage in 2022, it has been passed in other states. A way for Marc Levy to denounce American censorshipbut not only, and resistance which will always organize itself.
