Cuzorn. New novel by Thierry Delrieu

Thierry Delrieu has already published several novels with Éditions du Bord du Lot: “The Traveler of the Island of Yeu” in 2009, “The Travelers of the Apocalypse” in 2010, “The Travelers of Terror” in 2011. Six Years later, he took up his pen again to write the historical novels “Castle of Cuzorn, the curse” in 2017, “Castle of Cuzorn, the Holy Grail” in 2019, and “Castle of Cuzorn, the Royal plot” in 2020 , as well as a historical booklet “History of Cuzorn Castle”. He has just published “Château de Cuzorn, la division SS Das Reich” his 8th work.

“May 21, 1944. A date that the inhabitants of Cuzorn, nor those of Lacapelle-Biron, will not forget. It is the disastrous day when the SS division “Das Reich”, which cruelly distinguished itself during the massacre of Oradour-sur-Glane, carried out a vast raid in the Lède and Lémance valleys. The SS and the Gestapo from came to arrest resistance fighters, but above all deported innocent villagers. , was sufficiently organized and strong to escape this roundup. In particular, the Cuzorn resistance fighters gathered at a place called “Canteperdrix” which was a departmental headquarters of the resistance.

Philippe de Gunzbourg, secret agent of the Special Operations Executive, son of an aristocratic banker, was one of them. He carried out several operations on behalf of the British secret service and General De Gaulle’s Free . He was the local London man. He notably helped organize parachuting, guerrilla and counter-espionage operations in Lot-et-Garonne and Gers.

We follow his journey full of dangers, from the Cuzorn maquis to the attack on the Eysses prison, to the headquarters of the Armagnac Battalion in Panjas to London where he meets General De Gaulle, then during his parachuting in Alsace in order to carry out a secret operation in Stuttgart in Germany. A dive into these painful, but victorious, moments in the glorious history of France which saw men and women stand up with courage against the occupation of our country and our region by Nazi Germany. An epic adventure that cannot leave anyone indifferent, as the memory of this period is so vivid in our region.
