The members of the friends of the book offer many meetings for young and old. The assessment is very positive.
The General Assembly of Friends of the Book took place Thursday, January 23 in the presence of Pierre Castel, mayor, thanked by President Monique Augustin for the subsidy and the purchase of furniture. The team currently has twelve volunteers who provide the five weekly hotlines. The association has been enriched with 59 new members: they are now 280 with 191 adults and 83 children.
More than 11,000 references
The friends of the book enriched their collection with 140 new books and received many donations. Thus, the library has to date 11,428 notices all confused, 7,418 for adults including 1,200 of the Aude departmental library (BDA) and 4,010 children, including 819 of the BDA, place where readers can do Reserve books that are not on the shelves.
The subscription gives the right to a free digital space which allows you to consult newspapers, books, films, magazine and music.
Actions multiplication
On the entertainment side, the friends of the book have again associated themselves with the first pages operation on the basis of volunteer, organized by the Department of Aude, the Family Allowance Fund and the MSA which offered a small book to children Audois born or adopted in 2023.
They participated in the association forum last September, action which they intend to renew in 2025 and opened their door for two exhibitions to their neighboring association, the workshops of plastic and graphics of Quillan. They opened a partnership with the crèche, thus offering twice a month reading sessions to toddlers and two members of the association go every Friday to the accommodation establishment for the elderly (EHPAD) The custody for Reading the elders, very receptive to these literary parentheses.
-The association also organized an afternoon meeting with four authors for young people: the action will be renewed this year in an all public format.
Apart from the usual, crèche and nursing entertainment that will continue, an animation around the tale with an exhibition visible three weeks will be set up Friday February 21. It is funded by the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs (DRAC), the community of communes of Limouxin and the department and will be led by the storyteller Raphaël.
The cash flow, managed with rigor and equity, has a positive assessment which was approved unanimously. The office having resigned a new one was elected composed of Monique Augustin President, Bertrand Miclo Treasurer and Gérard Stoquert Secretary.
