the essential
For eight hours (and a little more), the 21st Winter Book Fair took place with author meetings, signings, young readers' prizes, round tables… for more than 700 visitors. Chronology.

It is 9:00 a.m. on this Sunday, January 19, in Montgiscard. It's not really hot, but two gentlemen are already waiting in front of the Faubourg du Sers room. The 21st Winter Book Fair will not open its doors until 10 a.m., but they know that this year, Cauuet will be there to sign the latest volume of the famous “Vieux fourneaux”. And for a signing from a comic book author, we're ready to get up early!

Manga and docu-comics

At 10:00 a.m., the bookseller (Ellipses) is hard at work, most of the authors have arrived. There are 48 of them this year, and as usual all genres are represented, including two new ones for this show, manga and docu-comics. Children's authors have particularly diverse productions, crime fiction is still very present, particularly with Nicolas Druart and Laure Rollier, but white literature is not left out with authors like Alain Monnier, Magyd Cherfi or Xavier-Marie Bonnot, and finally the documentary book and poetry intend to do well in the game.

Tribute to Bernard Maris

At 11:00 a.m., after the presentation of the Winter Book Youth Prize, Elsa André (president of the Winter Book association) and Philippe Leroyer (vice-president) take turns for an inauguration speech and a tribute to Bernard Maris, whose tenth anniversary of his tragic death particularly touched the regulars of the Montgiscard book fair because the economist had, twice, honored them with his visit, to this forever dear village. to his heart.

Three round tables

-

2:30 p.m. It’s time to resume. The round tables continue until 5:00 p.m.

Their themes are “clichés in the cities”, “the fiction which sheds light on History” and “lost rural areas”.

The audience is won over by the quality of the debates, the verve of certain authors, the great erudition of others.

6:00 p.m., the doors close on a beautiful 2025 edition with a still large and interested audience: more than seven hundred visitors this year, and authors delighted to have come to meet their readers in a joyful atmosphere, with a flawless organization and caring volunteers for those who bring culture to life. See you in January 2026 for the 22nd Winter Book Fair!
