Sandrine Derouet, director of the media library and Diane Seulin, director of ECLA services, in the presence of Mayor Alain Philibert and Christophe Dumont, deputy for Culture and Finance accompanied by several elected officials, presented the 2nd edition of the Fête du book which will take place on February 8 and 9, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
This new edition will bring together 20 authors, half from the region. Bruno Watelet, guest of honor, will be awarded the 2023/2024 Mining Basin prize. Several publishing houses will be present.
The book festival will offer meetings, signings, workshops, activities, magic strolls and shows. This year, school children have not been forgotten and will be able to attend the shows and the visit to the Sirius B planetarium on Thursday and Friday.
“This edition will once again be a great celebration. It reflects the remarkable work of the services,” underlined the Mayor who recalled the support and privileged relationships
with the department. He is pleased with the programming and communication around this event.
“A weekend dedicated to literature for all ages around a scientific theme, a time which will encourage meetings and exchanges with authors, readers, spectators, etc. The book, reading are essential,” explains Christophe Dumont. “All the proposals coordinated by the social center, the presence of numerous partners are the necessary ingredients for the success of this 2nd edition which registered 600 people in 2024.”
The finance assistant specifies that the event is free except for the shows. The budget amounts to €20,000.
“We wanted to do something with our signature, mix ages, audiences, authors, publishing houses who need support, create links, serve as a network and bring cohesion to this whole,” concludes Sandrine Lerouet.
The official inauguration will take place on Saturday February 8, 2025 at 9:30 a.m.
