And if Jean-Christophe Grangé confided to us that he is currently writing a work in the first person and with a single narrator, this one is however not for the immediate future because he has “ a little in advance » ! At the beginning of 2026, the author of the cult The Purple Rivers intends to unveil a thriller that will stand out from its previous investigations. And for good reason: he will talk about… him. “ I decided to tell my own story and the story of my origins “, he told us.

He explains: “ The question I have been asked most often, in interviews but also around me, has always been: “ Where do you get ideas like this? » They are very dark even though I am not like that at all in life! It's always surprising to see, when it comes to my imagination, how we slide into terror and violence. » Going back to his childhood, where “ everything happens, everything is formed », this former reporter realized that there was all the material there to write a new book. “ It turns out that I have very, very particular origins… I considered that, for once, I could tell a true story: mine! And she's so tormented and crazy that, ultimately, it won't really make a difference with my thrillers », he laughs.

As a child, before joining the Jean de Lafontaine high school in Paris as one of the main characters of Without SunJean-Christophe Grangé was raised by his mother. His father suffers from mental illness. “ I was truly born in the heart of a thriller. In this book, I tell not only my story, but also that of my mother who met this very attractive guy with the devil's beauty », he adds.
