Olivier Canal. Lyon, my little stopper

Book Olivier Canal
Cookbook by Olivier Canal © DR

Since we have this book, we have not stopped turning the pages. To ensure the feasibility of the La Meunière chef’s recipes, we tried to make his veal blanquette. The result was divine. Then, we tried vol-au-vent, and it was a hit. So if Lyon, mon p’titbouchon of course offers Lyon recipes such as andouillette gratin or sapeur apron, but also portraits of Lyon restaurateurs, pastry chefs or market gardeners, we also find great recipes from the repertoire of the traditional French cuisine. An accessible book full of delicacies.

€45. Editions de La Martinière.

Sonia Ezgulian. At the origin of creation

Sonia Ezgulian
Cookbook by Sonia Ezgulian © DR

After releasing a book of cooking recipes in the form of a photo novel at the start of the school year, the most prolific Lyon chef of her generation is releasing a very personal and poetic book. Entirely illustrated by Eliane Cheung (better known under the pseudonym Mingou), this work is a collection of recipes that Sonia Ezgulian imagined, drawing inspiration freely from what surrounds her: pestos borrowing all the shades of green from nature , the whirlwind that inspires a serpentine tart… A work of rare poetry, filled with recipes as pleasing to the eye as to the palate.

€20. Hachette Cuisine.

François-Régis Gaudry. Recipes and stories

FR Gaudry
Cookbook by François-Régis Gaudry © DR

We were already salivating over his Instagram account, whose everyday recipes gave us an irrepressible desire to cook. With this work, the French’s favorite gastronomic critic has done us a great service. The first recipe we tested was carbonara perfetta, the photos of which immediately made our mouths water. This pasta, whose “extraordinary creaminess of this egg sauce without a gram of crème fraîche” drove its author crazy… and us too. An everyday recipe to add to the pantheon of Italian gastronomy. Magic.

€35. Marabout Editions.
