Unpublished in French, I’m Still Here constitutes a direct testimony to the horror of the Brazilian military dictatorship, when the disappearances of opponents of the regime had become commonplace. Published in French, the work was noticed by Walter Salles, Brazilian director.

Known for his adaptation of On the road (2012), but also Travel diaries (2003), Salles had not directed his feature film based on Jack Kerouac’s cult book since. I’m still here was praised at the Venice Film Festival, where it received the Best Screenplay Award.

In the casting of this film, Fernanda Montenegro, Fernanda Torres, or Selton Mello. The screenplay derived from the book by Marcelo Rubens Paiva, he, was co-written by Murilo Hauser and Heitor Lorega.
