While the publishing sector is going through major transformations, the Winter Book Fair remains a sure value in the regional cultural landscape. Printing on demand, artificial intelligence and reorganizations of major houses are shaking up practices and raising questions about the future of literature. Faced with these upheavals, the Livre d’hiver association maintains its course and its values: independence, loyalty to literary diversity and support for local bookstores, like its long-standing partner, the Ellipses bookstore.
For this 21st edition, which will take place on Sunday January 19 at the Faubourg de Sers hall in Montgiscard, nearly 50 authors will be present. The show offers a subtle balance between emblematic figures and new talents.
Among the confirmed authors, we find some familiar names. The Salon also highlights rising voices on the literary scene: Inbar Heller Algazi will seduce young audiences with a fun and eccentric story. Coralie Caujolle for a mystery that is both sparkling and nostalgic. Tony Lecoq, author of a dystopian novel exploring the excesses of social networks and reality TV. Just Loui, mangaka noticed.
-The Winter Book Fair not only celebrates literature, it also encourages the exchange of ideas. Three round tables, with varied themes, will invite visitors to think differently: “When fiction illuminates history”, to explore how the novel can breathe new life into history, “Lost ruralities”, a discussion on disappearance of certain lifestyles and landscapes and finally, “Cities, two books to break away from clichés”, which will deconstruct stereotypes about the urban world.
For more than two decades, the Winter Book Fair has established itself as a warm and accessible literary event, combining seriousness, discovery and conviviality. Each year, it allows us to forge links between authors, readers and visitors.
