With his book Valencize along the waterPatrick Veyre takes us to Chavanay on a walk in twenty illustrated step sheets, around this stream.
Patrick Veyre has always lived in Chavanay and is very attached to the village.
Book: focused on construction, development
His parents were artisan butchers and charcutiers and ran the current Maison Vittoz store, in the town center.
Two years of work
He really grew up in the heart of the village and saw it evolve, change and expand. Today, he is very involved in several associations: president of the Chavanay Telethon for 8 years, he is also a member of the Friends of Parc du Pilat and Visages de notre Pilat, which published the book. Passionate about history and photos, he also took part in the town hall’s new educational trail.
Valencize along the water represents two years of work. Patrick first carried out enormous research work at the Archives of Paris, Saint-Etienne and Lyon. He also recovered documents from the Chavanois (es).
Patrick is driven by the transmission of heritage
So there are twenty illustrated step-by-step sheets which tell the story of Chavanay around Valencize: the RD7, the surrounding localities, the wash houses, Les Marides… He took care of the book from A to Z (writing, editing). on page, photos…). Due to current events, he added a chapter on the day of October 17 and the collapse of the Tower bridge.
His research focused on construction, planning and economics. A former professional in the construction sector, this explains his sometimes technical view on certain subjects.
