Friday December 27, 2024, the members of this association were present with the soldiers of the Messei brigade (Orne) and elected officials to precede the official presentation of this new endowment.
Tribute to the major
The president of the committee, Yvon Daguet, came accompanied by Gisèle Boutignysecretary, and Jean-Luc Letellier, territorial delegate of the Tinchebray, Flers and Athis brigades, to carry out this provision of equipment.
He wanted to pay tribute to Major Rose Lanska, who died last October, who had under her command the gendarmes of the brigades from Domfront, Messei and Passais.
“She was appreciated for her sense of camaraderie and her humor. This equipment allocation corresponded to its wish. She had been bothering me with these vests for over a year,” recalls Yvon Daguet.
Two new vests
One of the association's missions Friends of the police is to “support the gendarmes by purchasing equipment not provided for by the state endowment. For the community of brigades, the committee has already financed tactical lamps, barnums, 52 high visibility vests, dashcams, webcams, kits portable lighting, suitcases of magnetic beacons, as well as the development of the Mélanie room in Domfront, dedicated to hearings of minors,” lists the president.
This Friday, two high visibility vests were given on behalf of the members and General Colin, national president, to Warrant Officer Leturcq and Chief Warrant Officer Roper: “This vest is more functional with its exterior pockets than the one provided by the state, which is a simple chasuble”.
Member community
The municipality of Messei has chosen to join the Friends of the Gendarmerie association as a benefactor member. Michael Dumainethe mayor of the town, was given a diploma to put on the wall of his town hall.
-More and more communities are joining us to show the support of elected officials for the gendarmerie. This is not an act of sympathy towards the commander, but an expression of the close relationship with the gendarmes.
He adds that “Messei was one of the first municipalities to welcome us and listen to us. It is a sign of reconnaissancesupport and close ties that unite the gendarmerie with the municipality. Membership from municipalities remains a priority for the association. »
Awareness of the missions of the gendarmes
The mayor of Échalou, Claude Gasnier, and that of Saint-André-de-Messei, Jean-Claude Guillemine, responded favorably to the invitation of friends of the gendarmerie.
For the mayor of Messei, “the work carried out with the gendarmerie is extremely important, in perfect cooperation. This proximity is essential for the municipality. We experience difficult times during road accidents, we also discuss petty crime with important intelligence and monitoring work. We share the problem of public tranquility. The brigade is well integrated in our territory, we know each other well. This membership allows municipal colleagues to make them aware of the missions of the gendarmes.”
Support the gendarmerie
Created in 1932, the national association today has 15,000 members divided into more than 200 local committees.
In 2012, it refocused on concrete actions to support the gendarmerie. “The general interest association works to make the gendarmerie better known, to make it appreciated, to support it, but also promote your values and pass them on.
This support covers three aspects : moral support (tributes), direct participation in an action alongside the gendarmes (ceremonies) and material and financial assistance.
Membership, tax deductible, is open to those who wish to support the gendarmerie: individuals, elected officials, public or private officials, at the rate of €30 individually and €40 with a subscription to the quarterly magazine, and from of €100 as a benefactor member, for a community or a patron.
