From a encounter with the poet Louis Aragon (1897-1982) in the creation of an Art book several years later, this is the theme that will be proposed by Annick and Alain Dufils during the next meeting “Around a coffee”Monday January 6 at 3 p.m. in Fourges, in Vexin-sur-Epte (Eure).

Photographer Monique Dupont Sagorin met Louis Aragon in 1971 during the inauguration of the Pantin Library (Seine-Saint-Denis), during which she recited poems by the author. Eight years later, she rang his doorbell to bring him a photomontage made with the aim of getting to know him and really approaching him.

Testimonials for a book

From this first meeting, which lasted more than three hoursa friendship was born which allowed him both to photograph him and to create a link with personalities sharing the poet's life.

The search for testimonies on Louis Aragon in Francein Europe and in Chine even, continued for 15 years after the poet's death. It is in 1997for the hundredth anniversary of his birththat the book was finally able to be published by Editions du Cercle d'Art, with fifty handwritten texts and one preface by Jean d'Ormesson.

Many complications and pitfalls of all kinds punctuated the release of the work. It is this obstacle course, or journey of the “beating heart”, which will be told to you during the first meeting of 2025.
