If you are loyal readers of the adventures of Patrick Taisne-Nguyen you will be surprised. “This is my first novel that does not take place in Vietnam,” explains the writer from Nogent-le-Rotrou. This Asian country so dear to his heart, that of his wife's origin. “However, she has a habit of saying that I am the more Vietnamese of the two of us. » The dental surgeon has an overflowing passion for his culture, his way of life… “We go there regularly, and I feel so good there. »
Passionate about writing, this dental surgeon is releasing a new novel
However, he decided to get out of Vietnam for his new character, Alexandre. In “The lives that I cannot write” published by “Ella”, Patrick created a character… a writer.
He no longer has this little voice that dictates the words to him. So he's going to live the lives he can no longer write about.
And there, it's a happy mess, “he leaves his wife, he moves, he frequents homosexual circles, he meets new people, and his neighbor is kidnapped.” A journey through several countries then begins. “He’s going to experience different adventures,” smiles this Patrick Modiano enthusiast, without revealing too much.
We can still point out that Alexandre has three novels pending, and only dreams of one thing: the Goncourt Prize. Will he get it?
“I sometimes cry when I write”
The syndrome of the blank page therefore for this fiction writer… Does the Nogentais fear this moment? “Oh, I don’t have that problem right now. Writing is a permanent obsession that can annoy those around me (laughs). It's a need, I have to write. It's like a mistress you can't get rid of, an illness, a drug. It's an exquisite pain, sometimes I cry when I write. »
A continuation in writing
This sudden passion came to him when his parents died. “I wrote, in a way humorous certainly, and I only showed the family. They told me there was something to do. » And if you look carefully, this passion goes back well before.
I found writings dating from primary school. There was something.
At 70 years old, writing is only a hobby for Patrick, still active (part-time) as dental surgeon at Clos-couronnet. The other half is devoted to writing, and the author is already writing the sequel which he announces as “delirious”.
