As part of the 2025 Greater Narbonne Book Fair, the town hall is offering Books to young readers in the city's elementary schools.
Are young people no longer reading? The municipality of Narbonne bets no! Indeed, this Friday, December 20, Emma Bellotti-Lascombes, municipal elected official, welcomed CM2 children to the town hall. Works selected by a reading committee were offered to students as part of the next Book Fair. This operation aims to “give children a taste for reading”. The works will then be studied in class with the teachers.
Beyond this reception, 266 students will be offered books by the town hall, which is investing more than €3,000 in this operation.
What books will they read?
The books that were given to budding readers are the following: “Monsters” by Stéphane Servant, which tells the story of Otto who ventures into a circus where a monster resides. “Jeanne’s Tower” by Florence Medina, evoking the life of a young girl in the 19th century. And finally, “The Odyssey of Milo-The New Guardians” by Maxime Gillio, where superheroes and mythology mix. If reading has the virtue of developing children's mental abilities, it is also “a fantastic opening to the world”noted Emma Belloti-Lascombes.
Meeting writers and cartoonists
The 266 students from the 10 CM2 classes will be invited from May 15 to 18, 2025 to the 11th edition of the Grand Narbonne Book Fair. During this literary event, they will have the opportunity to meet the authors and illustrators of the books. A special moment of sharing, which will remain written in their lives as young readers.
