It's a real Christmas story (before its time) that the British Vicky Ball experienced: after having congratulated herself, on social networks, on having sold two Books during a local literary event, this author in the making has seen his novels become bestsellers on Amazon, reports the Guardian.
Humility pays
On December 3, 2024, this 48-year-old woman tried to sell, in a small town in the north-east of London, a few copies of two of her novels, Powerless et Abandoned. Having sold two, she immediately expressed her joy on her X account (formerly Twitter).

Posted spontaneously because she had “participated in events where (she) had not sold any”, her brief message clearly reached more people than she expected: in just a few hours, it was went viral by accumulating… more than 24 million views!
An unexpected hit
But the best part is that among all those who had read his post, many wanted to get a copy of one of the novels. “I've gotten messages on Instagram from people saying, 'I'm in Colombia, or Salt Lake City, or Belgium and I just bought your book.' It’s just incredible,” commented Vicky Ball.
Since then, his novel Powerless monopolizes the podiums of several Amazon rankings: it is, for example, in second position in sales – in e-reader format – in the “fiction for adolescents and young adults (about being a teenager)” category.
