Montreal Book Fair: fun activities in addition to meetings with authors

The Montreal Book Fair is synonymous with meetings and signing sessions with our favorite authors, but it is an event that is also full of exciting activities designed for young and old.

I read Native!

Why not browse and read by the fire in the discovery space created by the non-profit organization I read indigenous!? This is the perfect place to learn more about indigenous peoples in Quebec, members of the First Nations, the Métis and the Inuit as well as the literature, music and cinema of the First Peoples. Indigenous authors will also come and visit.

Youth zones

It’s teeming with life at the Montreal Book Fair with all the children very excited to be visiting, and that’s so much the better! They can borrow a book from the library in the Manga area and read it on site, take advantage of the large spaces equipped with comfortable beanbags and sofas to rest on, sit in front of one of the stages where activities are presented and climb onto the stands to attend talks, debates and school meetings.

The Montreal neighborhood invited

For four years, a Montreal neighborhood has been highlighted at the Book Fair. This year, it is Pointe-aux-Trembles, which is also celebrating its 350th anniversary. This space presents creators who lived there or were inspired by it in their works such as the poet, novelist and screenwriter Christophe Réhel who wrote The joke of the century, whose story takes place in Pointe-aux-Trembles. A section is also dedicated to the history of the district.

Discovery of the Korea pavilion

It is not without reason that Korea is the invited country at the 2024 Salon; Korean literature has shined on the international scene since the Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to author Han Kang. Visit this pavilion to immerse yourself in the richness and uniqueness of Korean culture, and discover what makes its illustrated books world famous. Workshops to learn the basics of the Korean alphabet, Hangul, are also offered.
