The Fleury-Mesplet prize was awarded Wednesday evening at the Montreal Book Fair to publisher and manager Jean-François Bouchard.

“Jean-François Bouchard embodies excellence and dedication in Quebec publishing. With more than three decades of experience, he has left his mark on the industry with his innovative vision,” underlined Caroline Fortin, president of the board of directors of the Montreal Book Fair.

Jean-François Bouchard began his career in 1989 in school publishing. He founded a general publishing house at Bayard Presse Canada in 2004 and chaired the BTLF Management Company. He was also appointed publishing director at Éditions La Presse in 2015, then president in 2018. Since 2020, he has held the position of general director of Groupe Fides, which includes Éditions La Presse.

Throughout his career, he has published renowned authors such as Jean Monbourquette, Gilles Julien, Rose-Marie Charest, Ricardo and Boucar Diouf, in addition to having been a member of numerous boards of directors (including those of the Canadian Book Center youth, ANEL, Copibec and the Montreal Book Fair).

Awarded by the board of directors of the Montreal Book Fair since 1987, the Fleury-Mesplet prize highlights the remarkable career of an artisan in the book industry who has contributed to innovation and the influence of the industry throughout the world.
