Authors in Cotentin offer a regional book fair

For several years, the Association of Authors in Cotentin has organized a book fair in Rozel (Manche) but also in various castles in the region. Thierry Lepesteur, writer and member of the association, talks about the history. “We have 70 authors who are members. These are authors who wrote with the Cotentin as a backdrop in one part of their works, regardless of the theme. » A collective of authors which has more than 20 years of existence. “Since last year, we have embarked on a new event: a book fair, but organized in Quettehou in the fall. » It will be open on December 7 and 8, 2024 in the Grains Hall.

The event will welcome authors from various literary backgrounds, between adult novels and children's . “We invited authors from the Society of Norman Writers, it’s also a vision of the region. No specific theme this year,” continues Thierry Lepesteur, who plans to welcome around forty authors. “Among them, Françoise Savereux with her children's books and well-known authors such as Michel Lebonnois and Patrick Quelvennec, among others. » A collective which also offers a book fair every spring at the Château des Ravalet.

Need to be recognized

Authors who have chosen specific locations for their salons. “It’s essential for the public to identify us annually,” assures Thierry Lepesteur, who deplores that authors in Cotentin are rarely invited to renowned salons. “They prefer authors with attractive names. However, our literary goal is to discover the region. »

Another concern is the complexity of finding publishers. “Covid has given people time to write and there is a surge in authors. Many publish on their own, it's a cost. specifies Thierry Lepesteur, who concludes. “Our collective is also there to support and help young authors. »

Saturday December 7 and Sunday December 8, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Grains Hall. Free.
