An immersion in divine and dark Romantasy

Imagine a fiery princess, an underground kingdom, and two gods who are completely opposed: on one side, Sun, luminous and powerful, and on the other, Night, mysterious and formidable.

The destiny of Danaé, the rebellious heroine, is irremediably upset when the god of Light chooses her as his bride, before she is kidnapped by the dark and bewitching Night, who intends to drag her into his dark kingdom, among night elves, vampires and werewolves.

This first foray into the world of Divine Darkness is a true offering of flesh and blood.

Anna Triss, known for her virtuosity in romance, here deploys a rich and fascinating universe, where mysteries and vices mingle. With a chiseled pen, she takes us into settings so lively that we believe we are there, through a vocabulary worked “with small onions”.

And if you are curious about the complexities of this universe, a downloadable PDF accompanies this audiobook, including a map of the faedric kingdoms, a glossary, and even a playlist: enough to truly immerse yourself in this high-end worldbuilding.

An offering of flesh and blood – Nuanced characters and a gripping plot

Where Anna Triss demonstrates particular talent is in creating deep and nuanced characters.

Danaé is a much more complex heroine than she seems: far from being a simple captive, she proves to be intelligent, intrepid, and will know how to surprise Night himself.

As for the latter, he embodies a fascinating anti-hero, far from Manichean clichés, oscillating between darkness and emotion. Any advice? Be wary of appearances, because each protagonist hides unsuspected facets.

This first volume is full of twists and turns, each one more captivating than the last. Anna Triss excels at maintaining tension in all its forms while cultivating an intense and dark atmosphere, making listening totally addictive. At the end, despite the absence of a cliffhanger, we only want to dive into volume 2, announced for December 12 (and volume 3 for December 18)!

The voices: a talented cast for a masterful interpretation

For this Audible exclusive, the trio Alexandre Donders (the same one who bewitched us in La Guilde des Ombres), Valentin du Caynes (maximum vocal charisma), and Ana Piévic lend Danaé a voice full of nuances, making her character endearing, mutinous, sometimes lost in the face of impossible choices.

This first volume of Divine Darkness is much more than a simple story of magic and passion: it is an invitation to dive into a teeming universe, where darkness and light, love and political intrigue mix. The immersive writing of Anna Triss makes this novel an essential literary favorite for lovers of adult romance!
