This year, for the 27th edition of the Book Festival you Wereorganized by the Departmental Council, the event revolves around the theme of freedom, echoing the 80th anniversary of the Landing of Provence and the Liberation. From November 22 to 24, 2024, 450 authors will meet their audience under the big top on the Place d'Armes in (Var).

An unmissable literary event

The Book Festival therefore starts this morning and for the president of the Departmental Council Jean-Louis Masson, it is an unmissable literary event for the people of Var. “It offers an escape, a journey through literary genresmajor current affairs topics, historical novels, thrillers, comics… »

The author of detective novel Bernard Minier is the honorary president of this 2024 edition.

During the event a tribute will also be returned to Marcel Pagnolemblematic figure of Provençal culture, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his death.

On the program

Many activities for all audiences will be offered throughout the weekend, here are some upcoming highlights:

  • Major literary meetings: Round tables and interviews with prestigious authors such as Véronique Olmi, Yann Queffélec and Dorothée Olliéric.
  • Tribute to Marcel Pagnol: Public readings, mural and escape game around the writer's world.
  • Intergenerational activities: Friday, November 22 will be dedicated to 800 middle school and 400 high school students from Var, with special activities and writing competitions.
