Books at 0.50 or 1 €
Sunday, time for a book sale. The Hermalle library having had to be completely emptied for its renovation, the team then carried out “a huge pruning” of its books before repatriating them to the Engis site. Many donations were made to Marneffe prison, to museums, to book boxes… “but we still have quite a few books leftspecifies Nathalie Simon. So, this Sunday, from 10 p.m. to 4 p.m., we are going to have a big sale at €0.50 per paperback book and €1 per large format book. These are not new, but we still have a bunch of books on literature, cooking, geography and travel…”
A “special Belgium” shelf
Throughout the month of November, as part of the “Are you reading Belgian?” operation, the library has also reorganized a space to highlight Belgian authors. “We made a specific selection, both for adults and children’s literature.”
Blocked students welcome
As the end of the year rhymes with exams, the library will extend its opening hours to accommodate students in blockade. In addition to the usual hours, the place will also be accessible on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. from December 1 to January 31 (for a question of organizing the team’s work, you are asked to notify your arrival at least the day before).
Wishes on the tree and books underneath
Finally, in December, the librarians imagined two “events” around their Christmas tree. “We’re going to make it a wish tree, we’re going to give people the opportunity to hang up wishes they have for the library, whether it’s acquisitions of books to recommend to us or activities they want to do. we organize.”
And under this tree, as part of “Rendez-vous en livre bleue”, there will be, as there have already been, “surprise” books, to borrow without knowing what the packaging hides…
