After Paris Photo at the Grand Palais, PhotoDays began at the beginning of November and continued until the end of the month. The festival opens the doors of galleries, institutions and atypical places wide to offer visits and meetings with photographers, making you want to see and read!
A true design icon, Charlotte Perriand
The first album published by Paulsen editions and signed Pascale Nivelle, is called Charlotte Perriand, the inspired mountain. 224 pages to tell the story of this woman who devoted a true cult to the mountain, which she described herself and for herself as a perpetual ''re-creation''.
Whenever she could, Charlotte Perriand escaped to the heights of the peaks. An outstanding mountaineer and skier until she was over 70, the mountains were for her both a source of wonder and inspiration. This beautiful album is also there to remind us that the woman who worked with Le Corbusier was at the origin of the Les Arcs station, and that this pioneer in design was an exceptional woman.
From Anna Atkins to Maya Inès Touam, women photographers
Women photographers are dangerous by Laure Adler and Clara Bouveresse, published by Flammarion. They are numerous and from all countries, in this selection of photos which brings together more than 60 photographers, from the time of the pioneers, like Anna Atkins, and until today with Maya Inès Touam.
In 1838, Louis Daguerre announced his discovery to the public and specified: “Although the result is obtained using chemical means, this little work could perhaps please the ladies very much,” and the two historians add: “The more photography progresses in its practices, the easier it will become to use by women who, as everyone knows, are not gifted either in technique or in creation!”
Photos, museums and smiles
Finally, we will also find something to smile about in this third beautiful book, Museum, Photographs by Nicolas Kriefwith a text by Stéphane Guégan, published by Gallimard. A real little gem! Nicolas Krief immortalizes stolen moments behind the scenes of museums, when exhibitions are being installed, and specialists are looking at works of art…
Reality rubs shoulders with beauty and often the movements of specialists extend those of sculptures or paintings. It's surprising, sometimes funny, in any case beautiful, captivating!
