For its 21st edition, the show The book in Cheux welcomes a guest with a somewhat unusual profile. After Michel Bussi in 2023, it is Bernard Cazeneuve who will come to meet readers, Sunday November 17, 2024. “He will only be present in the afternoon, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.,” specifies François-Michel Dupont.

Bernard Cazeneuve, a former Prime Minister, guest of honor

For the person responsible for programming the event, the arrival of the former Prime Minister, former mayor of Cherbourg, constitutes the culmination of two years of work.

We spoke with his entourage on the question of rapprochement between an author and his audience. Cheux is a popular show, and we want to contribute to bringing politics closer to the population.

Political but not too much

However, there is no question of transforming the salon into a meeting of the one who was approached – ultimately in vain – to return to Matignon after the dissolution. Bernard Cazeneuve will come and present his work My life with Mauriacdedicated to the author of Therese Desqueyroux. “We wanted a literary entry, in order to give depth of field to politics,” continues François-Michel Dupont. We wanted to encourage the meeting between a statesman and the public, through his relationship with writing and culture.”

Meet at the Studio, in Bretteville-l’Orgueilleuse

The Cheux village hall, which has hosted the show for 20 years, is currently being renovated, Livre à Cheux is taking place this year at the Studio, the Bretteville-l'Orgueilleuse performance hall. “This will probably also be the case next year,” warns François-Michel Dupont.

These are beautiful feathers. Éléonore Dervieux has just won the Jean-Anglade prize for the first novel, chaired this year by Michel Bussi.
