The material damage may, of course, seem limited: this small kiosk – the city has around fifteen in total – was offered by the Lions Club and installed in December 2017. As is the principle of book boxes, everyone can drop off or borrow a book for free. So there was no trunk to plunder. But the symbol is strong: attacking Books made available to all is an act of unfathomable stupidity, the reasons for which raise questions.
