François Hollande says he is very attached to Montpellier and the department of Hérault. “I have had a connection with the city for a long time, he confides. With Georges Frêche when he was mayor, and especially with his successor Michaël Delafosse. Montpellier is a metropolis that moves, that advances, that innovates. It's a young population that wants to be interested in politics. We are also in a department which is crossed by the extreme right which has established itself there. It is important that the left and the socialist party find their place and help those who hesitate, who choose the extreme vote, to understand that there is a path and a hope.”

François Hollande comes on vacation to Palavas-les-Flots

François Hollande also confides that he regularly comes on vacation to our department with his wife, Julie Gayet: “Julie has her cousin who is here, I went on vacation to Palavas-les-Flots, not long ago, and I really liked it! We must convince all those who sometimes have prejudices that these are the most beautiful beaches in France! They are not necessarily the biggest and busiest. And then, it’s popular tourism, we have room here to enjoy the sea!”

The former president adds that he is not coming to sign his book here as a candidate for the 2027 presidential election, but as a deputy for Corrèze and former President of the Republic.
