This Saturday, the bookstore Des Livres et vous invited for a signing session, the writers Estelle Pineau-Vives and Jean-François Bouygues for their family saga “I will come back for you” in two volumes (“The White Sun of Silence” and “Silence as a legacy”) published by Éditions Le lys bleu.

The authors have known each other forever, cousins, they have been around the characters and their stories. They complement each other with their own memories, to describe life from 1850 to the present day in Gourdon and its surroundings, from the time of great-great and great-grandmothers.

The structure of the work is typically genealogical, a fresco in which the names of the characters are deliberately fictitious, because it is certain that some will recognize themselves having experienced the same adventures.

Jean-François Bouygues, with five novels to his credit, highlights the richness of his origins and the strength of ancestral ties. Estelle Pineau-Vives, passionate about writing and genealogy, pays tribute to all her ancestors whose heritage has shaped her soul and her heart over the generations.

Life on the farms was not easy every day, the authors specify in their writings the customs of the time, the prohibitions, the authoritarian parental education. According to religious dogmas and the historical context, foreigners were not wanted, they were undesirable. So when Lucie fell in love with a Spanish refugee working on a neighboring farm, at 18 years old at that, it had to be kept quiet and hidden, honor had to be preserved. However, her daughter discovers this unconfessed and ephemeral love, she investigates with her relatives and elders, and the secrets resurface.

In conclusion, Jean-François and Estelle specify that they wanted to resuscitate the old ones so that the readers’ memories resurface, and certainly trigger a lot of emotions in them.

The authors will be at the Sérignac Book Fair on Sunday December 1 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday December 6 at the Gourdon intercommunal library (BIG) at 6:30 p.m.
