Are you looking for a read that you will devour in just a few hours? This work, filled with drawings, poetry and confessions, is one of those books. “In my brain as at home” immerses us in our deepest emotions.

By opening “In my brain as at home”, it’s as if we received an entry ticket into the head of Math aka @cht.am on Instagram. The illustrator followed by nearly 200,000 subscribers has become known for these drawings which have become universal when they evoke feelings, the misfortunes as well as the joys of life or even current events. If her favorite terrain remains social networks, @cht.am decided to put on paper a story inspired by her own story, the trials and joys she went through.

She arranged each aspect of her life in the imaginary rooms of a house. Each piece represents a chapter to discover and one thing is certain, one of them is bound to resonate with your own inner home.

The summary

“I furnished my brain like a little house. I placed the ego in front of the bathroom mirror and the emotions in the smells of the kitchen. I hid the intimate one under my bed and carefully stored the souvenirs in the attic. It is a house that I live in and which also inhabits me. I don’t have the keys every day, but I feel good there. Welcome to my open house. Math »

Why did we like “In my brain as at home”?

We really enjoyed discovering the designs, shapes, colors, different on each page. But above all we loved this representation of the brain becoming a household. Some pieces are obvious by the accuracy of the words used to justify their choice. We are moved by the author’s confessions, by her sincerity and her humor, but also the difficult memories that are discussed there. Although the story is that of sometimes very personal events, many will be able to identify with certain situations and certain phrases will have a particular meaning for each person. The strength of this work lies precisely in this feat, making fragments of intimacy universal.

Who will like it?

To fans of graphic novels and beautiful illustrations, but especially to all those who follow the @cht.am account on Instagram and who appreciate his style. The book is also ideal for anyone who wants to go further on the subject of their emotions, their feelings or who simply want to be surprised. Finally, we also recommend this book to people who do not usually like to read since it contains only a little text per page and is very easy to read.
