From his childhood to the head of the National Rally. As is tradition in politics, Jordan Bardella decided to bring together his childhood memories, but also his political thoughts, in a book. Titled What I'm looking for and published by Éditions Fayard, the work will be released on November 9.
Waiting for, The Figaro Magazine et The New Obs reveal extracts. And unsurprisingly, the president of the National Rally mentions Marine Le Pen on several occasions. The candidate for the 2022 presidential election was able, according to Jordan Bardella, “to bring out a successor is one of the first duties of a leader. Marine did it”, we can read in an extract chosen by The New Obs. She is a “rock star” and “magnetic”he adds.
Jordan Bardella also looks back on his commitment first to the National Front, then to the National Rally. “Marine Le Pen was able to convince me. I want to join her party and support her. The National Front is criticized. I know nothing about its history, its founders and even Jean-Marie Le Pen,” he writes. A way for the president of the RN to distance himself from the convictions of Jean-Marie Le Pen for anti-Semitism.
The meeting with Emmanuel Macron
The party leader also evokes Emmanuel Macron through a specific moment: the meetings in Saint-Denis. The Head of State brought together, in August 2023, the leaders and representatives of political parties in order to draft legislative texts and pave the way, “if necessary”, to referendums. Closed-door meetings that ended in the middle of the night.
“Emmanuel Macron greets me in a courteous manner. I give him this reflection which comes to me after several hostile declarations from his majority: 'I understood that this meeting was reserved for parties in the Republican arc. I'm glad to hear that we are.' The president gives a smirk. He doesn't answer me,” writes Jordan Bardella, as reported The Figaro Magazine.
As for the previous government, Jordan Bardella responds to a sentence pronounced by the former Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin, at the time of his transfer of power with Bruno Retailleau: “If my name had been Moussa Darmanin, I would not have was elected mayor and deputy. “In a few words, the man who claimed to embody the authority of the government, the right-wing guarantor of a regime, sinks into a victim culture which usually constitutes the backbone of the left. Would he forget that the new government includes within it Rachida Dati et Othman Nasrouboth products of republican meritocracy?”, Jordan Bardella responds in his book.
References to Nicolas Sarkozy's mandate
Other political figure cited: Nicolas Sarkozy. Jordan Bardella poses as the alternative on the right. “The idea of bringing together French people from the working classes and part of the conservative bourgeoisie in the same spirit – as Nicolas Sarkozy did in 2007 – is relevant […]. Future victories will depend on the unity of the patriotic camp, through an ability to bring together the orphans of a more Orleanist right. I want to go further in this direction and reach out,” he defends.
The appeal to the right-wing electorate is not a first for Jordan Bardella, who increased his appeals to the Republicans during the European elections. As for Nicolas Sarkozy, in 2023, Jordan Bardella posted a video on his X account to wish an “excellent return to school” to all students. Placed on the desk of the president of the RN, the book by Nicolas Sarkozy, The time of battle, sits at the top of a pile of files.
