But what is PCOS, aka polycystic ovarian syndrome? According to the World Health Organization, it is a hormonal disorder that usually begins during adolescence and can cause irregular periods, excessive levels of androgens (the hormones responsible for male characteristics), lack of ovulation and cysts in the ovaries.

This condition affects 8 to 13% of women, but many have never heard of it! In recent years, several content creators have made it their mission to inform their communities through videos on social networks, sharing the effect of PCOS on their reproductive system and the other symptoms it can cause, such as acne, excessive hair growth, hair loss or weight gain.

This is exactly what Emy-Jade did in her story, thus confirming that she had received this diagnosis. At the grocery store, she filmed herself selecting products that would help her body through its treatments to ease her PCOS, reducing her insulin resistance and inflammation, as she writes on screen .

She also shared the lunch she now made regularly, always with the aim of helping herself in her journey with this disease. The latter is incurable, but it can be relieved with certain interventions and changes in habits, such as in diet (more Mediterranean style, as in the case of the influencer).

In short, the dog mom took this opportunity to confide in what she is experiencing, and we admire her openness, which can help raise awareness among other people about this rather little-known syndrome! We wish him peace during the coming times of adaptation.
