The 2nd edition of the Book Fair hopes to reproduce the success of the 2023 edition, with its around 350 visitors.
The team of volunteers from the Avignonet Initiatives association has been working for many months to put the final touches to the programming of the 2nd book fair. For this dynamic to be successful, it received the support of the municipality as well as the generous and supportive partnerships of the Librairie du Beffroi in Revel, the Souplassens gîte or even Éditions du 38 and Hyper U in Villefranche. For this second edition, the date very close to Sunday November 24 was chosen with the rural center still as a rallying point, open to visitors from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Around thirty authors
This year again, this event will bring together around thirty authors of all styles. It will welcome locals or neighbors from Lauragais. Among them: Alexandre Léoty, Georges-Patrick Gleize, Christophe Guillaumot, Sébastien Saffon, Stéphane Amiot or Patrick Caujolle… Comics, crime fiction, local culture, philosophy, youth, there will be something for everyone. Lucien Ariès, Muriel and Yves Carchon, Philippe Jové and the philosopher Robert Redeker among others will also have their stand.
A duo of godfathers
The sponsorship of this 2024 meeting will be carried by two authors: Dana B. Chalys and Benoît Séverac. Dana, a native of the Chaurian country, will present her universe bathed in science fiction with her latest work “The secret of the clouds (The Kingdom of the Giants 1)” published this month of October by Gulf Stream publisher. Benoît is the author of novels and short stories in dark and detective literature for adults and young audiences. He will host a round table there at 11:30 a.m. Also as an involved partner, the Avignonet reading club Delitt will present its activities there, as will the Avignonet media library.
Also to bring images to all these writings, visitors will be able to discover extracts from the exhibition by photographer Paul Melville entitled “Sérénité”.
