Tradition obliges, the Renaudot prize is announced just after Goncourt, at the famous Drouant restaurant in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris. Among the five writers who were in the running, the jury of ten members chaired this year by Jean-Marie Le Clézio (rotating presidency), chose this Monday, November 4 to reward Gaël Faye in the novel category, for Jacaranda (Grasset).
The 42-year-old Franco-Rwandan singer-songwriter, rapper and writer succeeds Ann Scott who won the Renaudot in 2023 with her novel the Insolent published by Calmann-Lévy editions.
In the last selection, Kamel Daoud (HourisGallimard), who won Goncourt this Monday. In addition to the thriller author, Olivier Norek, the Winter Warriors (Michel Lafon), there were also names generally rarely seen in the price lists: Antoine Choplin for the Masao Boat (Buchet Chastel), also a Femina finalist, and Élisabeth Barillé (The Sisters and other living speciesArléa).
