Author-illustrator Marion Brand tells children about twenty-four hours in the life of a young shepherdess and explains to them the lives of shepherds here and elsewhere.

HELVETIQ EDITIONS – The book is composed of two parts, the first tells the life of Shepherdess with her goats, the second, in a question/answer format, provides numerous explanations on the profession and the lives of shepherds all over the world.
At 5:30 a.m., when the alarm goes off, the moon is still in the sky but Bergère has to get up because it's already milking time and the goats don't want to wait. From hour to hour, we follow Bergère in her multiple daily activities: milking animals, preparing cheese, delivery, field work, feeding, management… until she goes to bed at 11 p.m. The illustrator chooses a very simple style and large areas of 4 colors: red, blue, white and black. The regular presence of alarm clocks and clocks allows the child to understand that the story takes place over twenty-four hours.
The second part of the book explains to the child the profession of a shepherd, his life with animals all over the world and to tell him how milk is transformed.
