“Tintin is just another myself”: exceptional works signed by Hergé at auction in Paris

The highlight is a unique copy of “Tintin in America” from 1932, published by Petit Vingtième, estimated at 200,000 euros.

On December 5, 1933, Hergé signed a very personal dedication to one of his friends and mentors, Charles Helsen, the scout chaplain of the Saint-Boniface Institute in Brussels, where he spent five years.

This “Tintin in America” is marked “10th thousand”, and seems to be the only one in this edition. “We think that Hergé asked that a copy be printed especially for Father Helsen,” the expert on this sale, Daniel Perez, told AFP.

A large number of the 75 albums for sale are in near new condition, others in very good condition, allowing you to see the original colors of the covers.

This is the case of a copy of the original edition of “Tintin in the Congo” from 1931, with a few thousand copies printed. Estimated at 100,000 euros, it is signed “Tintin” by Hergé, and “Milou” by his fiancée Germaine.

Unsigned, but very rare, an edition of “The Treasure of Red Rackham” in “animated book” (marked “pop-hop” on the cover, today more often referred to as a pop-up book), produced by Hallmark from felt-tip drawings, is estimated at 60,000 euros.

On November 6, Tajan will also sell an original page from “The Mysterious Star” drawn in 1941. The estimate is 400,000 to 500,000 euros.
