A native of , in Lorraine, and of Sicilian origin, Louis-Salvatore Bellanti has just published his 15th novel, The olive groves of Agramonte in , and in Italy under the title In this sea wind. The author, who admits to “writing for 40 years”, first as a screenwriter for or cinema, also worked as a journalist for the Franco-Italian magazine La Voce.

His literary work, focused on crime fiction, began with the publication of Manuscript of the Dead Motherpublished by Le Seuil/Baleine. His latest novel, The olive groves of Agramontetells the story of Tancredi Vella, returning to his village in Sicily, 32 years after leaving it, lured by a bonus of 50,000 euros for a fake marriage.

There he finds his best friends from before, but also Angela, his childhood sweetheart, in an action from which he partly draws personal inspiration. The story shifts from the memories of 1992 to the reality of 2024, from Sicily to Tuscany, via the island of Ischia. Against a backdrop of friendships that we thought were eternal, secrets, betrayals and revenge are revealed, in the heady shadow of the Sicilian mafia.

The well-scripted novel is also illustrated with drawings by Andrea Louis Ballardini. Published by Modern Times, it is available online to order in bookstores or online on all specialized sites. Price: 20 euros.
