the essential
The Montgiscard Book Fair, which will take place on Sunday January 19, 2025, is also being prepared for libraries. The first meeting was held at the Donneville media library.

Subscribed to the 3rd Sunday in January, the Montgiscard Winter Book Fair returns for its 21st edition on Sunday January 19. The countdown gong has already sounded and preparations are accelerating for the organizing team. Also on the part of the sector’s librarians, who make it a point of honor to know all the latest writings of the invited authors. Book distributions, diligent readings, discussion meetings around these readings… therefore punctuate the last months of the year for the libraries of the Hers network and their neighbors on the hillsides. The first of these meetings has just been held at the Donneville media library, with around ten works (adult and teenage novels, poetry, etc.) to be analyzed. The next meetings, around new works, are set for Tuesday, November 18 and January 7.

Growing success

If the Montgiscard Show has enjoyed, over time, a success that has never been denied, with nearly a thousand visitors during each edition, it is in part thanks to this synergy that it has been able to establish and energize: with libraries, but also with schools (witness the Benjamin and Junior Prizes awarded by the children of the Elementary School) or even with booksellers (the Librairie Ellipses has been supporting it since the very beginning). Cooperations which contribute to the success of a cultural event unanimously appreciated, both by the authors whose comments, in the Guest Book, mention “a friendly and family show, with a warm welcome, with a large audience , very diverse, interested and buying”, as well as by visitors who appreciate “a warm, friendly, diversified show attentive to readers’ expectations”.

More than thirty authors, including Alain Monnier, Frédérique Martin and Dominique Delpiroux, have already confirmed their participation, the list is growing as the invited authors are validated. Last originality to note: the traditional pre-Salon evening which will offer theater this year, with the company “À fleur de mots”. She will perform the piece “Until n’en plus puer”, based on a text by Stéphane Jaubertie, on Saturday January 11 in the evening.
