The first guests of the Brive Book Fair 2024 are known. Nearly a month before one of the most important literary events in France, many authors and public figures from the book world have confirmed their presence.
We count alongside Jérôme Garcinpresident of this 42e edition and former host of Mask and the Featheryouth and comics guests Rebecca Dautremer et Emmanuel Lepage.
The almost-awards already invited
Strategically located at the end of the season, just after the announcements of the autumn Grand Literary Prizes, the Fair brings together the notable authors of the fall season and in the running for the most honorary awards. We thus find: Gail Faye, Miguel Bonnefoy, Sandrine Collette, Kamel Daoud, Maylis de Kerangal, Philippe Jaenada, Emmanuelle Lambertor even Olivier Norek.
Brive attracts and builds loyalty, many regulars will return once again this year to carry out signings in the aisles of the fair as Amélie Nothomb, Michel Kissi, David Foenkinos, Laura Adler, Douglas Kennedy, Jacques Attali, Franck Thilliez, Cécile Coulon, Hervé Le Tellier, Mazarine Pingeot, Maud Venturaand also Alice Zeniter.
Toan et Yoann Vornière will put manga in the spotlight and, on the children’s literature side, a very strong field will present itself with Manon Fargetton, Alex Vizorek, Susie Morgenstern et Antoon Kringsthe famous creator of Funny little creatures.
A literary crossroads
Other personalities will come to accompany this vast panel of authors. We will find the French Academicians Antoine Compagnon, Dany Laferrière, Jean-Christophe Rufin et François Sureauthe actors François Morel et Alice Poland journalists Michel Denisot, Maïtena Biraben, Olivia de Lamberterie et Sophie Fontanel.
Closing the autumn season, the Brive Fair attracts crowds from the center and south of France, one of the rare opportunities for a large part of this public to see their favorite authors. The effect is real on book sales each year with a record of 970,000 euros for the 2023 edition. This edition welcomed 163 publishing houses and more than 400 authors during its three days.
