A posthumous book and exhibition for the painter Pierre Michel

The painter Pierre Michel would have been 100 years old this year, born in 1924 in Porrentruy and died in 2009 in Delémont. On this occasion, he will be entitled to his exhibition at the Cave in Soyhières from this Sunday until Sunday October 27 (opening scheduled for this Saturday at 6 p.m.).
Visitors will be able to rediscover his works, many of which take a look at the Jura landscapes: farms in the Franches-Montagnes, views of Saint-Ursanne, Courroux or Porrentruy, the fresco of the Hôtel du Bœuf in Delémont… Throughout his career, the artist represented farms, villages, rivers and landscapes typical of the Jura. “Pierre Michel sought to translate onto the canvas an intimate impression, a state of mind often uneasy, sometimes full of hope,” say the organizers, who are none other than his two sons, Pierre-André and Frédéric.
The Jura emulation society will also participate in the celebration since it will publish an art monograph simply entitled Pierre Michel in honor of the artist. His work and his career are retraced there for the first time by Yves Guignard, art historian. The work is also richly illustrated by photographs of around fifty paintings.
The opening will be held in conjunction with that of the exhibition.
