A book on Casablanca through the films

“Ciné Casablanca -La Ville Blanche in 100 films” has just been published by Le Fennec. It invites readers to (re)visit the city while exploring the history of cinema. “Itto” by Jean Benoit-Lévy and Marie Epstein (1934), “Hello Casa! » by Jean Vidal (1952), “Bob Fleming… Mission Casablanca” by Antonio Margueriti (1966), “The Return of the Pink Panther” by Blake Edwards (1975), “Casablanca, Casablanca” by Farida Benlyazid, (2002) , … One hundred films, national or foreign, from the beginning of the 20th century to today, have been carefully selected to tell the story of the economic city in a different way. From the choice of places to the artistic intentions through the historical and architectural context, everything is deciphered to offer another vision, perhaps little or poorly known, of Casablanca. Carried in partnership with the French Institute of Morocco, this work, which is full of unpublished photos, is signed Rabéa Ridaoui, cultural facilitator and president of Casamémoire (2019-2023) and Roland Carrée, doctor in cinematographic studies from the University of 2 and teaching Cinema at ESAV (Ecole Supérieur des Arts Visuels) in Marrakech.
