The novelist Geneviève Besse-Houdent has just published, with Éditions Koiné, her book “Un Sein à soi”. It is an astonishing encounter between an intimate experience where the breast has established itself as a common thread and works of art whose motif of the breast has echoed a renewed gaze. Real episodes and analyzes of plastic and literary works are intertwined here, from Jean Fouquet to Eva Hesse and Alina Szapocznikow, from fashion to dance with Madame Grès and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker up to contemporary visual artists, Françoise Jaquet, Laure Prouvost, Alice Schÿler Mallet, Sorane Rotellini, Sarah Lucas and Prune Nourry.

Selected works by these artists are reproduced in the book with their kind permission. Joëlle Pagès-Pindon wrote the preface.

Geneviève Besse-Houdent is an art historian, lecturer, editor of catalogs and magazines. His research subjects focus on the Renaissance and contemporary art, in particular on the use of clothing in works of art.

The public sale price of “From a breast to oneself” is €15 and the copyright will be donated to the Curie Institute for cancer research.
