The Bologna Children’s Book Fair will be present at the European Conference on Literary Translation organized from October 2 to 4 by the European Council of Associations of Literary Translators.
Bologna has been a partner since 2022 and will participate in the event at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, “Unesco World Book Capital 2024” which includes it in its exceptional program as part of this special year.
The aim of the conference is to find solutions to improve the circulation of literary works across Europe and the world. More than 80 speakers from 30 different countries will take part, including Bologna which will highlight its role as a professional and commercial fair conducive to the emancipation of the world of translation.
Bologna, the translator
The Italian fair is strong with numerous initiatives taken such as the World Directory of Translation of Children’s Books, a database in 57 different languages for specialist translators in this category, the In Altre Parole prize rewarding the best translation of a text, the Translation Forum to train in this practice, and the multitude of meetings and varied debates on the subject, offered each year.
The director of the Bologna show Elena Pasoli will speak on Thursday, October 3 during the meeting “Promoting literary translation and translated literature” to answer the question “How to arouse the reader’s interest?” »
