Already suspended for an accumulation of cards in Ligue 1, Benjamin André is preparing to experience the same fate in the Champions League, the scene on which he was sanctioned this Tuesday during LOSC's defeat (2-1) against Liverpool.
Outnumbered at the hour mark, Aïssa Mandi was sent off for a second yellow (59'), LOSC never really dreamed of the feat this Tuesday at Anfield. Opposing Liverpool, the gulf that separated them was clearly visible. However, there were five minutes during which the Mastiffs thought they would swing the match in their direction. The momentum given by Jonathan David's equalizer (62′) was however quickly broken by the goal scored by Harvey Elliott (67′). The Briton saw his recovery perfectly countered by Ngal'ayel Mukau, who sent him into an area inaccessible to Lucas Chevalier.
The frustration, already present given the difficulties encountered, obviously grew over the minutes as the tension built up. It is not for nothing that Benjamin André ended up being sanctioned. Late on Wataru Endo, the Lille captain received a yellow card. This is the third in less than twelve matches, the one synonymous with suspension. The midfielder, in addition to Aïssa Mandi being sent off (59′), will therefore miss the reception of Feyenoord Rotterdam during the 8th and final day of the Champions League league phase.

The disciplinary regulations in the Champions League are identical to those which govern the games of the French championship, with the exception that twelve matches must be held, and not ten. Thus, in the event of three warnings, a player is suspended for the next day of competition in Europe. It is for this specific case, unlike Aïssa Mandi, that Benjamin André will be suspended for the reception of Feyenoord Rotterdam on Wednesday January 29 (9 p.m.) in the Decathlon Arena – Stade Pierre Mauroy.
The suspensions are starting to pile up among the Dogues with Alexsandro and Jonathan David for the trip to Strasbourg this Saturday in Ligue 1, and Benjamin André, who will also be suspended during the reception of AS Saint-Étienne at the start of the month of February. For the moment, it was only a question of national games. The midfielder will be the first Lille player to receive a sanction for accumulating cards in the Champions League this season.
