An important step for Canal 25. Wednesday, May 7, 2025, CMA Media sent a press release for the title “CMA Media announces that it is in exclusive negotiations with NRJ Group concerning the sale of the Cherie 25” channel. Recall that since the Arcom’s decision to suspend the frequencies of C8 and NRJ12 of digital terrestrial television (TNT), NRJ Group and its CEO Jean-Paul Baudecroux had hypothesized to cede Cherie 25, its channel for female public.
As part of a growth strategy
In the official document, it is written black on white: “CMA Media confirms having entered exclusive negotiations with NRJ Group for the acquisition of the Chérie chain 25. This operation, if it is materialized, will be part of the growth strategy of the growth Groupe RMC BFM and will mark a key step in strengthening its position in the French audiovisual landscape”.
The press release also makes some details on CMA Media, the media subsidiary of the CMA CGM group. We can read: “3rd private media group in France, CMA Media revolves around an emblematic audiovisual pole, the first French player in continuous information, notably with BFMTV and RMC, and a press pole bringing together titles recognized such as Provence, Corsica morning, the Tribune and La Tribune on Sunday. CMA Media also has strategic participations in the M6 group and the gross digital platform”.

In an article published on March 22, Puremédias already explained to you that CMA Média and his vice-president, Nicolas de Tavernost had positioned themselves on behalf of the Marseille shipowner CMA CGM. Meanwhile, Nicolas de Tavernost has left his duties as CEO of BFMTV and RMC to take over the management of LFP Media, the commercial subsidiary of the Professional Football League.
