At least three people died Thursday afternoon in the fall of the cabin of a cable car in the Naples region, in the south of Italy, the local town hall said.
Another person is seriously injured and another is missing, according to mountain emergency services and firefighters.
14 dead in an accident in 2021
The accident occurred following the breakdown of a cable in this cable car, while a cabin with 16 passengers on board was very close to the city and the ground, while a second cabin was at Mont Faiso above a precipice.
The 16 passengers in the first cabin were all quickly rescued, but the bad weather and the fog at altitude prevented the passengers from the second cabin quickly.
This cable car was inaugurated in 1952 and so far an accident has been recorded, in 1960, when a cabin fell to the ground causing the death of four people.
In May 2021, the fall of a cable car cabin had killed fourteen and a seriously injured in Stresa, seaside resort of Piedmont on the shores of Lac Musur, in northern Italy.
