On Saturday April 26, a fire broke out in a home on rue Alexandre Millerand in Brumath. About fifty firefighters, 28 equipment and three lances had been hired to stop the spread of fire to adjacent homes.

Three sisters, aged 6, 10 and 12, had been in cardiopulmonary arrest by firefighters, before succumbing to their injuries a few days later. The drama triggered a strong emotion throughout the town.
