The Kisangani garrison military court, in the province of Tshopo, pursues two eco -laws of the Congolese Institute for Nature Conservation (ICCN) for murder. The fact dates back to April 2024.
The defendants Mawabo Mikaso Cratos and Kongoli Ikele Faustin, both Ecogardes, are accused of having killed two people in the territory of Opala, in the heart of the Lomami National Park. “Voluntary” act committed outside of any legal reason for AK -type weapons, according to the wording of the indictment read during the hearing this Thursday, May 8 in the commune of Makiso.
According to the public prosecutor, this is an execution which is a criminal use of the means made available to agents for the conservation service.
Considering the facts, the defendants are prosecuted for voluntary homicide and dissipation of war ammunition, acts severely punished by article 74 of the military penal code.
Before the court sitting in repressive matters in the first degree, the civil party represented by Me Patrice Thomas Akala Ndjoku asked and obtained, a two -week dismissal. “This period will allow the defense to properly study the file, but also at the ICCN, civilly responsible, to appear through its director general,” said the lawyer after the hearing.
The case will still be called on May 22, 2025, except change of program. In particular, the court will have to decide on the elements of responsibility of the ICCN in this drama.
