Sunday, May 4, the Jordanian authorities had to quickly evacuate tourists from the archaeological site of Petra. The area was struck by a sudden flood and civil protection managed to evacuate the majority of the 1,785 tourists identified.
Sudden floods swept on the site
A video of the Jordanian meteorological authority shows the sudden floods hitting the ancient city. In addition, tourists have been seen gathered at the entrance to the Treasury, one of the most emblematic tombs, before their evacuation. Similar evacuations have already taken place, the region being subject to rains and thunderstorms.
