Volodymyr Zelensky said Thursday after his phone call to his American counterpart Donald Trump that Ukraine was “ready” to lead “all formats of negotiations” with Moscow to find a way out of the conflict triggered by the Russian invasion.
“But for this to happen, Russia must show that it seriously wants to finish the war, starting with a complete and without conditions ceasefire,” continued the Ukrainian president, in a message published on social networks.
In the process, on its social network Truth Social Donald Trump called “to an unconditional 30-day ceasefire”. Russia like Ukraine “will have to account” and “if the cease-fire is not respected, the United States and its partners will impose other sanctions,” threatened the American president.
The telephone call between American presidents Donald Trump and Ukrainian Volodymyr Zelensky “went very well”, said a senior official of the Ukrainian presidency at AFP.
According to this official, the conversation, in English, lasted about twenty minutes and had as main subjects “diplomacy and ceasefire” that Washington and kyiv try to establish on the front against the Russian army.
The two leaders, according to this source, also mentioned the mineral agreement ratified Thursday by the Ukrainian Parliament.
